Letting in the Light
Modernizing a traditional home can be a daunting idea for many homeowners, but for one Woodbury, Minnesota family, a kitchen remodel — and some sleek gray subway tile along the backsplash — transformed the space from dark 90’s decor to a luxurious modern-day heart of the home.
Contact UsWorking with Ispiri, the family wanted to tie elements of the home together in the new kitchen remodel by combining both painted and stained cabinets. Our designers included a dark maple and marble-looking quartz island in the center of the room, providing more space to seat family and friends. In contrast to the island, the perimeter cabinets were painted white with a gray granite countertop, creating an alluring reverse between the interior and exterior of the room. To eliminate the often unused space above the cabinets, the new cupboards were brought nearly to the ceiling and capped with crown molding. Finally, chic, glossy gray subway tiles were used along the kitchen’s backsplash, playfully transitioning beneath under-cabinet lights from bright white to dark gray.
The final design carefully and expertly added sleeker lines and modern details to the home without creating a room that would feel out of place, while allowing the family to better utilize the space.
