Indoor Oasis
For one Minnesota family, their desire to get away from it all became a project to remodel their small, dark oak bathroom into a spa-like, inviting space that would take them away from the worries of the day. Between the dark colors and a wall separating the bathroom from a half-bath, the space felt cramped. By bringing white marble into the remodel, the once small space transformed into a rejuvenating master bath that felt refined and luxurious.
To start, the Ispiri design team worked with the homeowners to reimagine what their space could feel like. The half wall was removed, adding more open space to the bathroom. Using Cambria white quartz countertops — selected for ease of cleaning — and natural marble tile in both the shower and tub, the space immediately felt lighter and bigger. To amplify the feeling of space, the alcove tub was replaced with a white freestanding tub, and the shower was replaced with a frameless glass shower door.

His-and-Hers sinks provide individual surfaces for the homeowners without taking more space. A large, custom-built mirror and white frame captures the details from the vanity cabinet while mounted lights on the mirror made the space feel more open and inviting. By keeping the palette light, the bathroom was able to feel luxurious without completely overhauling the space.
A major aspect of the bathroom was the need for cleanliness, especially when using white throughout. Not only were the countertops selected for how easy they are to clean, but the frameless shower door is easier to keep sparkling than the previously metal-framed shower. A two-in-one shower head becomes hand-held to easily clean the shower walls and door. In the end, the homeowners were excited to spend time in their new, spacious bathroom that is easy to clean and brings a sense of calm to their day.
